Doulas Supporting Teens:

Doulas Supporting Teens Doulas Supporting Teens is a non-profit organization that pairs volunteer Doulas (trained labor support professionals) with pregnant teens in the Eugene/Springfield area, as well as offering free childbirth education classes and parenting groups. Doulas provide emotional, physical, and educational support during pregnancy, birth and early parenting. The mission of Doulas Supporting Teens is to create a legacy of confident and educated mothers, supported families and thriving children. Doulas Supporting Teens (DST) was founded in 2003 as a grassroots effort to help fill the need pregnant teens in the Lane County area have for prenatal education, continuous labor support, and in-home postpartum care.

Doulas Supporting Teens currently receives funding from many different arenas, including individual donations, family foundation donations, various in-kind donations, and small fundraising events. However, they are in need of additional funds to fully cover their operating expenses and expand to providing stipends for their volunteer Doulas and rent for a more private office, appropriate for conducting childbirth classes. AFP will be supporting the organization through helping them develop current and scenario budgets for the next year that will be based future fundraising endeavors. After completing the budgets, we will be writing a fundraising plan that will incorporate examining the success of previous fundraising efforts and focus on how to recruit and build up a larger individual donor base. We will then work with the organization to help them plan and carry out some of these fundraising strategies identified in the fundraising plan.
