Womenspace:

The mission of Womenspace is to end domestic violence by empowering survivors and their children, and ending the social circumstances to create a need for our services. This year, AFP-UO worked with Womenspace to design a planned giving program intended to involve the generation of supporters who started Womenspace 30 years ago, and those who have since become donors and are thinking of their wills and retirement. Specifically, AFP-UO researched which other local social service nonprofits having planned giving programs and collected copies of their materials as well as materials from other domestic violence prevention organizations across the country. The materials were then used to develop marketing materials (such as brochures) for the new planned giving program. In addition, AFP-UO made a presentation to the board of directors about the benefits to planned giving and helped develop a gift acceptance policy. AFP-UO members have enjoyed the opportunity to work with a well established nonprofit this year while learning about planned giving. It has been a beneficial experience for both groups as AFP-UO provided Womenspace with the tools to get a planned giving program on its feet.
