Why should we provide universal access?

Information on the web, properly designed, is accessible to all of our students, including those with disabilities. Individuals may not be denied access to university information because of blindness or any other disability.

Besides having a philosophic commitment to serving people with disabilities, the university also has a legal obligation to not discriminate against people on the basis of disability. Being found out of compliance with this legal obligation could bring severe consequences to the university and to the department hosting the non-compliant web site.
