Oregon Ballroom Dance Club

Friday Night Dances

Summary

Location: Gerlinger 220
Cost: $4 student (with ID) $6 community
Lesson 7:30-8:30, general dancing until 11:30

What is it?

Once a week, the Oregon Ballroom Dance Club organizes and hosts a social dance in the interest of education, practice and above all fun!

What if I don't know how to dance?

No Problem! The first hour of every dance (7:30-8:30) is dedicated to a lesson which will go over the basics and a few variations for one dance each week.

Check out the upcoming events section of the main page for which dances will be taught at upcoming dances. Check out the Ballroom dance Etiquette Map.

How much does it cost?

$4 for Students with Student ID
$6 for Community Members
FREE for OBDC Members with a valid membership card.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code for any of the OBDC functions (though the so-called "Formals" are a good excuse to get dressed up). You can wear anything you want to the Friday night dances, from jeans and t-shirts to suits and ties. There are, however, a few guidelines:

When is it?

Every Friday night during term, except for Friday of Finals week. You can also check the homepage for more details.

Where is it?

All of the non-formal dances are located in room 220 of the Gerlinger Building on the University of Oregon campus, located near the corner of 15th and University.
View a map of campus (Gerlinger is next to the Pioneer Cemetery near the bottom left) and a panorama of our dance space.

Who can attend?

Anybody and everybody! Students, Community members, Faculty, Staff, anyone who is at all interested in Ballroom dancing.

What if I don't have anybody to dance with?

You'll meet somebody! The vast majority of attendees don't come with somebody to dance with. They just come to dance and have fun. There is absolutely no partner necessary to attend any of the OBDC functions. In fact, it is a great way to meet a lot of fun and interesting people.
