Research Topics: Amphibians and reptiles; biogeography; distributional
limits; ecology; conservation.

Experience: MSc thesis on Distribution of tailed frogs in northern
California (Calif. State Univ. Sacramento, 1967); Habits and homne range of
the Pacific pond turtle,_Clemmys marmorata_, in a stream community
(Univ.California at Berkeley, 1972).

Publications: ~100. (I will need to select out those pertaining to the
Siskiyou Mtns. and there are 5-10 of note).

Current Interests:

Zoogeography and evolution of woodland salamanders (genus _Plethodon_) in
the Klamath Mountain Region. I am comparing meristic and color patterns of
the Del Norte salamander (_P. elongatus_) and Siskiyou Mountain salamander
(_P. stormi_). This likely will be submitted as a "monograph."

Distribution, ecology and protection of ranid frogs in southern Oregon.
State-protected: _R. aurora_ (red-legged frog), _R. cascadae_ (Cascade
frog), and _R. boylei_ (yellow-legged frog).
Federal candidate species: _R. pretiosa_ (Spotted frog).
(New project lacking funding so far).

Western pond turtle. (1) Inventory and monitoring. Developing a draft
protocol to record relative abundance of the species in so. Oregon (test
area). Multiagency effort. (2) Growth patterns of species (rangewide study).

Biogeography of herpetofauna of so. Oregon.
Emphasis has been on the BLM Roseburg and Medford Districts, with some
surveys on Umpqua and Rogue River National Forests. Covers 3 yrs of field
surveys of terrestrial and aquatic species.
