Education:

M.S. 2006 University of Oregon, Anthropology (Archaeology)
Masters Paper Title: Implications of a Freshwater Radiocarbon Reservoir Correction for the Timing of Late Holocene Settlement of the Elk Hills, Kern County, California.

B.A. 1996 University of California at Santa Cruz, Anthropology (Biological/Physical) Thesis Title: Assessing Sexual Dimorphism in Early Hominids

RESEARCH INTERESTS
My aim is to use archaeological materials to construct cultural and environmental histories. In the articulation of these parallel chronologies, I hope to define broad patterns of human adaptation and cultural responses to environmental change that ultimately inform us of the prospects and limitations for our future livelihood. Research approaches employed in my work include:

  • Human Responses to Quaternary Climate Change
  • Geomorphology and Landscape Evolution
  • Computational Models
  • Modeling Human and Non-human Diet through Stable Isotope Analyses
  • High-resolution Radiocarbon Correction and Calibration
  • Characterization of Marine and Freshwater Radiocarbon Reservoirs
  • Use of Stable Isotopes to Model Hydrologic Systems and Determine Seasonality
