Welcome to Child Care Subsidy!

      Child Care Subsidy, an incidental fee funded program, reimburses a percentage of child care expenses paid for low-income student parents. The goal of the program is to ease the financial pressure of paying child care expenses while also paying college tuition. Based on their need level, parents receive a subsidy ranging from 20%-50%.

      The subsidy applies to the fiscal year of July 1 to June 30; consequently, student parents must re-apply every school year (student parents attending summer school must re-apply at the beginning of the summer to receive subsidy for the summer and the following school year). New applications for each year will be available as soon as possible, both online and in the Subsidy Office.

      The subsidy fund is not guaranteed to last the entire fiscal year (July 1st thru June 30th). To help manage the fund the ASUO Subsidy Task Force determines the number of subsidy recipients. Roughly, the first 190 eligible applicants are awarded subsidy [subject to change to stay within budget]. The Task Force also rules on exceptions that are filed by students. All incidental fee paying students are eligible to attend and vote in Task Force meetings-- we encourage you to attend the meetings and help decide exceptions and vote on Child Care Subsidy policies that are up for review. Upcoming Task Force Meetings:
Task Force Meetings are announced via email to all Subsidy Recipients and a notice is sent through the ASUO Events ListServ at least three business days before the meeting.

What is a task force meeting?
The task force meetings are held to discuss and vote on exceptions to Child Care Subsidy policy, due to extenuating circumstances. In order to reach a verdict, we must have AT LEAST 5 incidental fee paying students to vote. I encourage all Child Care Subsidy recipients to attend if they can, as the exceptions request exemption from policies that dictate or determine the amount of funds you receive from this program. I also encourage any and all students available to attend, as this program is funded entirely by the student incidental fee (money from the student's pocket). At the meeting we will go over the proposed exceptions. If the student requesting the exception is present, they will present their case. If not present, I will explain the exception and situation (maintaining the parents anonymity). After, we will all vote to approve or deny the exceptions.
