Check out our winter cricket photos!

You may not know it, but the University of Oregon has one of the finest cricket pitches anywhere.  The NexTurf field on the university campus produces excellent bounce, gives plenty of turn and is a totally exciting place to play cricket.  Located next to historic Hayward Field with beautiful scenery, it is easy to see why the Oregon Cricket Club Eugene has turned into a clan of CRICKET MANIACS. And who can blame us?

A month ago we decided to get some cricket practice in on a sunny Saturday morning and the fact that the temperatures were well below freezing mattered not a whit.  The weather was really fantastic, actually.  Go to our pictures gallery and check out the Cold Weather Cricket photos – you will see what I mean.  I recommend choosing the “Show Picture List” option above the window and then selecting the “View with PicLens” option for the best viewing.  Cricket, coffee, doughnuts . . . an awesome way to start a Saturday in Eugene.

Oregon Cricket Club Eugene has just achieved our biggest development to date.  We have recently received two fantastic dedicated cricket nets for our practices.  This is a quantum step forward for our club and the development of cricket in Eugene.  I want to thank University of Oregon Club Sports’ Sandy Vaughn and Shawn Rubino for their tremendous support for our club and cricket in our community.  Thanks, you two!  You have been great to us!

We are very excited to begin our net sessions this spring – everyone is cordially invited to come and check them out.  Net sessions are where a cricketer truly has a chance to develop his or her skills.  We will be having evening nets during the week as well as intra-squad matches during the weekends this 2010 season.  Oregon Cricket Club Eugene currently has five matches against outside clubs scheduled for this season, with more planned.

If you are interested in getting in on the incredible sport of cricket and you live in the Eugene/Springfield area, join us!  OCCE has real cricket talent from around the world in our squad.  We foster a fun-loving approach that is geared to getting Americans passionate about our real cricketing destiny: the United States making inspirational cricket history in 20/20, One Day International and Test Match Cricket.

Cricket’s time in America is now!  Come be a part of it!

The pictures are great, but take a long time to load. The file sizes are huge! I say this because not too many people outside will have the patience to wait 30 seconds for each picture to load in the PicLens player (for the 8.29 match), the two minutes it takes to upload the winter practice, or for the 20 seconds upload time onto the whole screen (when you click on individual photos).

    Nice job overall.

The pictures look very stunning! I must thank Coach,Mike for putting tremendous amount of time to keep the Oregon Cricket Club climbing up the hill continuously. I must also thank Daniel for keeping this team alive since the cricket club has started. Awesome job Daniel! Three years ago before i left Sri Lanka I never thought that i would be playing cricket cricket here in Oregon. Now we have a well established cricket club and very enthusiastic players. I hope we will be able to travel long distance to play some social and comparative matches in the future.

If we have 10 or more players coming to our regular Saturday evening(5PM) practice, we should be able to play a scrimmage. I would also love to hear what other players think about this. We’ve got to to have competition in order to show our skills and motivations, and make mistakes and learn to fix those mistakes right away. Finally, i would like to thank Mike again for his hard work and hosting a great meeting on last Wednesday. See you all tomorrow. Go OCC!

    Cheers,

    Kamal

Those pics make my mama proud :D Great job, Andrea. Some of the angles are screamingly good.
Nice thought put into the four-step process. I remember playing a not-so-cute shot for that delivery, but since those are still photos they make me look good ;)

You know why they call it ‘nets’? Once you start playing in it, you’re caught in there — you just don’t want to come out of it :)

I’ve learned some new things through your web site. One other thing I’d really like to say is that often newer computer system operating systems are inclined to allow a lot more memory to be utilized, but they additionally demand more memory space simply to run. If someone’s computer is not able to handle extra memory along with the newest program requires that storage increase, it is usually the time to buy a new PC. Thanks

I guess you are cricket enthusiastic and me too ;)
But these days I am really disappointed with the current performance of Indian Cricket Team in Australia. It is really a tough time for the team and I hope they will come out from this bad patch soon in fourth test in Adelade. I guess there is a much needed transition in the team and seniors must leave their positions to young guns. Anyway, I enjoyed your post and I have extremely enjoyed your photos.Thank you!
