Oregon Cricket Club Eugene (OCCE) is part of the University of Oregon Club Sports. Club Sports is located in the Erb Memorial Union on the University of Oregon campus. Club Sports helps establish and support recreational teams like OCCE and many others. They support OCCE financially and assure our club has access to the facilities here at U of O. With Club Sports’ hard work and funding from student fees, we have been able to form a cricket club for the Eugene-Springfield area.

OCCE is a member of the Oregon Cricket League. Currently, we compete socially with other clubs from the league. We are building the club with the goal of fielding competitive teams to both local and national tournaments. Oregon Cricket Club Eugene boasts an international membership that ranges from seasoned ex-professional to committed novice.

Along with American club members, OCCE currently has representatives from six Test Cricket-playing nations: India, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the West Indies. Our growth plan is geared to accommodate up to 30 serious cricketers in our club.

Current club management has committed to expanding and promoting the sport of cricket in Eugene/Springfield as well as throughout the region and the United States. We have created a mission statement that includes three distinct intiatives:

A.) Compete: Field competitive and social teams in scrimmage, league and tournament play

B.) Develop: Train and develop cricket skills in OCCE through net sessions and practice drills

C.) Promote: Spread the wonderful game of cricket to the community and country through creative initiatives focused on fun, friendship and tough-but-fair play.

Throughout the year we do fundraising activities to keep our dues low. This includes Mac Court clean-ups and a letter-writing campaign to help with club expenses. In 2010, work at Oregon Cricket Club Eugene is focused on building both OCCE Starting IX and OCCE A teams as well as construction of our new practice nets. With the generous support of Club Sports and Ultimate Sports Gyms, we are building a fantastic cricket development program that strives to be both a resource and inspiration for cricketers of all levels in Oregon and beyond.

Oregon Cricket Club Eugene tryouts and membership are open to University of Oregon students, alumni and employees. Cricketers from the Eugene/Springfield area may also join on approval of the club coordinator as it befits the stated development goals of the club.

Oregon Cricket Club Eugene is both a sporting as well as creative effort. OCCE’s Selection Panel regards the artistic component of cricket to be of very high importance. In keeping with our mission to promote the sport of cricket and its special values, Oregon Cricket Club Eugene enjoys a unique position as an outlet for both sporting as well as creative expression, on and off the pitch.
