About These Pages

My name is Dan Albrich. I work for the University of Oregon. I like the process of discovery and sharing what I've learned. I'm also an avid wireless and gadget user. I maintain these pages in my free time.

There's nothing simple about choosing a cell phone company and rate plan. In fact, one could argue that the complexity is an overt effort on the part of the cell phone companies to hide the actual costs the consumer will have to pay. On the other hand there's plenty of competition in the industry and multiple choices for service even here in Eugene Oregon. While it may be a challenge to find the service that suits you best, it's likely you can find something that works well for you. The more time you spend researching things before you purchase, the better your service will be for your needs. These pages will tend to be most accurate for users here in Oregon but much of the information can be applied more generally.

All of the information presented in these pages reflect my personal opinions and you should use them at your own risk. I suggest gathering information from several sources, so that you can make your own informed choices. I cannot guarantee that all of the information found here is accurate, but I endeavor to make it so. If you do find errors or omissions, please send that feedback my way.

My address is "dalbrich" at "uoregon.edu" which I don't post in plain form to avoid spam. Another way to find it is to, look here, then type in "Albrich" into the faculty/staff field.

How to Use This Site: If you have the time, read each page from start to finish (the links under "Getting Started and Information"). You'll likely find some tip or tips you can use. There's no "summary" page that has all the information. There's also some organizational problems in terms of where I have put different bits of information, and fixing these will be an ongoing process.

Disclaimer: I am not employed in any way (including as agent, or reseller) by any cellular company. I do not speak for my employer with regard to any of the pages on this site. My opinions are my own.
