Welcome to new graduate students Maria and Ted! Maria is a PhD student from Ecuador and Ted is a MSc student from California.
New NSF project funded! The focus is on LeConte Glacier in SE Alaska, as an analogue for Arctic ice-ocean processes, as it is a more accessible and well-studied system. Collaborators include Jason Amundson (UAS), Roman Motyka (UAF), Jonathan Nash (OSU), and Eric Skyllingstad (OSU). More to come!
Welcome to Twila Moon, a new NSF funded postdoc who started with us in July 2015. She'll be working on Greenland-wide glacier/fjord interactions.
Dustin Carroll's work on near-terminus plume circulation using MITgcm and buoyant plume theory has been accepted to JPO. Nice work Dustin! Final version here.
Check out the new GReenland Ice Sheet Ocean network (GRISO). It's a grassroots effort to improve our understanding of how ocean-glacier systems work around Greenland.
Congrats to Molly O'Neill (graduated with MSc summer 2014) on getting a job! She'll be starting at FTI consulting soon. Awesome.
Iceberg tracking paper published in GRL! This is based on George's MSc thesis and is the subject of our ongoing research in the lab!
Welcome to Dan Sulak! He started a MSc here in Sept. 2014.
Congrats to Molly O'Neill on finishing up her MSc this summer (Sept 2014)!! She looked at seasonal hydrography and DO levels in Coos Bay, Oregon.
Congrats to George Roth who finished his Masters on iceberg tracking in Sermilik Fjord and got a job! He'll be starting at the Polar Geospatial Center this summer! (June 2014)
Two new papers coming out: a comparison of Sermilik Fjord and Kangerdlugssuaq Fjord in JGR (Sutherland et al. 2014) and time series observations of velocity in Sermilik Fjord in Nature Geoscience (Jackson et al. 2014). Cool! (June 2014)
Saskia Madlener screened her movie, Greenland's Glaciers, about our NASA work in west Greenland -- look out for another screening in Newport soon. (June 2014)

Molly O'Neill wins best poster at the 2013 Heceta Head Conference for her work on hypoxia in Coos Bay. Congrats Molly!!!
Arcticle published on seal data in JGR-Oceans here. This data has now been used to complement a sediment core study near Sermilik Fjord.
