Directions to the Andrews Experimental Forest from Eugene airport

  • From Eugene Airport, go south on 99W (towards Eugene);
  • Exit to the right onto the 'Belt Line Rd' travelling east;
  • Turn south at the junction of the I-5 and then exit 1 mile later on exit 194A (I-105 to Springfield, McKenzie Hwy);
  • Travel east on Hwy 105 to Springfield and turn east on Hwy 126 (2nd light, left 2 lanes turn east);
  • Travel east on Hwy 126 through Springfield and along the McKenzie River past the town of Blue River (about 35 mins);
  • Continue to 3/4 mile past MP 43; It's the road just past the "Christmas Treasures" store.
  • Turn left at 'Blue River Reservoir' sign onto Forest Road 15. Drive up the hill and away from the McKenzie River;
  • Travel 3.6 miles along Blue River Reservoir, to Forest Road 1506 with the visitor information booth on your right

    Directions to the Andrews Experimental Forest from Bend

  • From Bend, go west on Hwy 126/20 (towards Eugene/Corvallis/Salem);
  • After several miles on the west side of the pass, turn left onto Hwy 126/20 (towards Eugene/Corvallis);
  • After 3 miles, turn left onto Hwy 126 (towards Eugene);
  • Travel south then east on Hwy 126 along the McKenzie River, towards the town of Blue River (35 miles);
  • Turn right at 'Blue River Reservoir' sign onto Forest Road 15. Drive up the hill and away from the McKenzie River (If you get to the "Christmas Treasures" store or the town of Blue River, you've gone too far);
  • Travel 3.6 miles along Blue River Reservoir, to Forest Road 1506 with the visitor information booth on your right
  • Directions to the Lookout Creek old growth trail from the visitor booth

    • Turn onto Forest Road 1506;
    • Stay on Forest Road 1506 all the way until you reach a brown Forest Service sign for the trail
    • Landmarks along the way are the two bridges you cross over Lookout Creek and the fork with Forest Road 350 a quarter mile before the trailhead
