You will receive a course username via email. You will need it to access some parts of the course such as topic exercises, tests, cooldowns, etc. If you have not received this information, please contact me. See contact information below.

In order to take the course you must use Energy Scheming 3.2 which you can purchase from the Energy Studies in Buildings Lab in Pacific Hall room 103. Course can be taken on a Macintosh OS 8.6 or later. There is also a Beta version of the course which uses Windows 98/NT/2000. The PC version might be a little rough but we wanted to make it available for students who have windows computers and are willing to give it a try. The beta windows version is not supported for the course so if you are using it, please be advised that it is minimally supported.

Explore the course web pages and do the guided tour and topics starting with the warmup, then the exercise, then the cool down. The due dates for submitting work for the Energy Scheming class are stated below. You are welcome to complete the work before the due date but cooldowns will not be available until after the due date. Please turn in work on time. Each topic consists of Warm up, Exercise, and Cool down. The warm up is similar to lectures in class and walks you through various parts of the Energy Scheming program and energy concepts. The exercises test what you learned in the warm ups. The scores for exercises will be part of your grade. The cool down goes over the work you did in the exercise. The topics are found by following the Course Topics link from the main screen. Midterm Exam and Final Exam are found by following the Tests link from the main.

We estimate each topic will take you about 4 - 6 hours to complete. When you complete and submit exercises and tests, they will be scored and results returned to you by email.

Note: When submitting exercises and test, if you type in an incorrect username, there is a chance of losing previously input answers. There is code that checks for missing answers and missing username but not for incorrect usernames. This will have to be fixed in the course. But for now you can set your browser (in preferences -> advanced -> cache) so that the memory cache is 5Mb and Page in cache is compared to page on network is set to Every time. This will allow you to use the back button to go back to your work and resubmit with your correct user name.

Email me if you have questions. Good luck.
