WARM UP #3 INTRO: WINDOWS

PROCEDURE:
1) Resize the Netscape window to a 2" wide narrow strip on the right hand side of the monitor.




2) In this next step, you will create a new Energy Scheming file. Please read steps 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 before you start! Open Energy Scheming by double clicking the folder and the application icon.




3) Under the file menu, select New... . In the next three steps, you will select the default climate, Dodge City, choose a commercial building, and set the area to 1600 sf.




4) Make sure the Dodge City, Kansas, climate is selected and click OK.




5) On the next screen, select Non-residential, which represents a commercial building, and click OK.



6) Type in 1600 sf for the building area, and click OK.




7) Now resize the Energy Scheming window by clicking on the lower right corner and dragging to the left so that you can see the Netscape window.




8) The Energy Scheming window should appear on the left and the Netscape window on the right.




9) Note: If you made a mistake in the first three screens, you can change these parameters by choosing Project... from the Define menu.




10) Import the above drawing from the Netscape window into Energy Scheming . You may copy the above drawing and paste it into Energy Scheming 's drawing layer, or create a drawing (use scale 1" = 20') in a paint/draw program with the dimensions as above and import it into Energy Scheming via the clipboard (copy and paste), or scan in a pencil drawing.




11) Turn off Infiltration/Min. Vent rate (under the Define menu).


12) Save as... "(your last name) - Bldg 1 South 100"




13) Add a south elevation. If you are not sure what the scale is, you can use the scale tool. Select Scale Tool by clicking the radio button. Then using the cursor, drag the arrow over a known dimension, such as the width of the plan (see the plan above). Then type in the length of the line in the text box.



14) Add 100 sf of double glazed, fixed glazing with no internal or external shades to the south elevation.




15) Close the spec and click the Continue button in the warning that comes up.




16) Select Graphic report from the View menu. Set the floating palette as shown.



17) Let Energy Scheming calculate (click on the calculator button. Print the Energy Report from the menu with the settings as shown.

18) Save.
