The FEMUR is the longest, largest and strongest bone in the body.  It is located in the thigh area of the lower extremity and articulates with the acetabulum of the pelvis at the hip, and with the tibia and patella at the knee.

The TIBIA is the larger bone of the two in the leg is the second largest bone in the body.  It is located at the medial aspect of the leg and articulates with the ankle, patella, femur, and fibula.

The FIBULA is the smaller bone of the two in the leg.  It is located on the lateral side of the tibia.  It is connected to the tibia superiorly and inferiorly.  The most proximal end located at the posterior head of the tibia and is NOT associated with the knee joint. Its most distal end is located anterior to that of the proximal end and projects below the tibia, which forms the lateral part of the ankle-joint.
