Techniques to Palpate and Locations of the Musculature of the Anterior Shoulder

#1: Biceps Brachii
The long head of the biceps brachii travels through the bicipital groove and under the deltoid. The short head attaches to the coracoid process. Both heads and the belly of the muscle should be palpated.
#2: Deltoid
The deltoids can be palpated along the anterior, posterior, and lateral portion of the shoulder, and they attach at a common point on the humerus.
#3: Coracobrachialis
The coracobrachialis may be palpated at its insertion on the coracoid process, but as it moves into the musculature of the humerus it becomes difficult.
#4: Pectoralis Major
The pec major can be palpated along the anterior of the chest.
#5: Pectoralis Minor
The pec minor lies underneath pec major, so the majority of it cannot be palpated, but you may be able to find its tendonous insertion on the coracoid process.
