TYPE OF JOINT

DESCRIPTION

Synovial Two articulating surfaces contain hyaline cartilage on their ends and have joint capsules which contain synovial fluid to nourish the cartilage
Hinge Motion in one plane: flexion and extension
Condyloid Motion in multiple planes: flexion/ extension, abduction/adduction, and circumduction, but no rotation
Plane/Glide Motion in one plane: slight, like gliding motion
Ball and Socket Ability for distal bone to move in multiple axis: flexion/extension,  abduction,adduction, circumduction, and rotation
Saddle

Motion in multiple planes: flexion/extension, abduction/adduction, circumduction, but no rotation

Opposing surfaces concave-convex
