A synovial joint is the most common and most moveable type of joint in the body.  The movement of a synovial joint occurs at the point of contact with articulating bones, as seen in the knee joint the articulation of the femur and tibia.  The main structure of a synovial joint is a cavity between the articulating bones that is filled with a lubricating synovial fluid.
