- Two key documents for historical research on the European Union are the General Report on the Activities of the EU and the Bulletin of the EU [archived]. The annually published General Report is available online in pdf format from 2005 on. Access the General Report on the Activities of the European Community/European Union, chose one year, examine the table of contents, and read the introduction. Then access Bulletin of the European Community/Bulletin of the European Union and examine the “Earlier Issues” link on the left of the page. Examine one Bulletin, noting its format and content. Note the more frequent publication of the Bulletin as compared with the General Report. [Since July/August 2009 the Bulletin is no longer published in this format.]
