User group role and goals - What are we trying to do?

This project has already received a lead gift of $1.5 million that will be matched with $1.5 million in additional gifts plus $1.5 million of institutional funds.

Staff discussed with the group how the planning process works at the UO.Staff distributed a handout describing the role of the user group, and the Planning Office Procedure Guide, which maps out the entire project development process. The user group functions as the main client representative for the university, and it will meet a number of times to more fully describe the project before beginning the hiring of architects. Design policies are described at patterns, and the Long Range Campus Development Plan includes patterns that this project will address.

Because this project's primary users are a relatively small department, some of whose faculty are represented on the user group, the group agreed to extend an invitation to the faculty and staff of the department to attend user group meetings should they wish to do so. This list includes:

 

Work to date - What's been done already?

The department has been meeting to further define their functional needs for this project. Staff distributed a list of work to date in the form of a spreadsheet of the space types that may be included.

What's next?

The next meeting will include an advisory session with the Campus Planning Committee to discuss opportunities and constraints that may be related to this project.
