Sheep Mountain Field School

Instructor: Dr. Patrick O'Grady

Course Description

Field School Photos

Sheep Mountain is located near the northwestern edge of the Harney Basin in southeastern Oregon. The site has produced Clovis points among other artifacts and most stratified deposits are buried under a thin layer of Mazama ash (ca. 7500 BP). The Sheep Mountain site provides a rare opportunity to train on one of the oldest sites in Oregon, recovering artifacts that were crafted at the Pleistocene/Holocene transition.
