Center for Green Materials Chemistry

Center for Green Materials Chemistry Workshops

We are conducting a series of workshops and conversations involving representatives from national labs, industry, and an international contingent of academic researchers. We intend to expand the research goals to areas impacting large-area and nano-electronics, energy production and storage, small-scale patterning, and nanomaterial interfaces. We are also pursuing expansion of industrial participation beyond our charter members - Intel, Hewlett Packard, and AKT/Applied Materials, and Inpria.

The Center hosted its first workshop at Belknap Hot Springs in the Oregon Cascades. A diverse group of participants was brought together to examine the application of analytical techniques to understanding the transformation of solution-based species into high-quality films and for characterization of film and interface properties. Tim Emery from Hewlett Packard, one of the Center’s industrial sponsors, provided insight into the HP vision for large-area oxide electronics. New avenues for collaboration were identified, and all enjoyed the warmth of the hot springs amidst the snow-covered mountains. Hence the next two workshops were also held at Belknap Hot Springs.
