We visited the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House on November 2, 2002. That visit inspired the following questions:

1. What are the standards for temperature, sunlight and humidity?
2. Are environmental conditions in the attic sufficient for the proposed storage of historic furniture and artifacts?
3
. What type of heating system is used to heat the house?
4. There are portable electric radiators in the office, which is also south facing, with no shutters, shades or curtains on the window. What is the nature of the temperature fluctuations experienced in this room?

Hypothesis:

The thermal environment in representative areas of the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson house does not meet temperature and relative humidity standards for the display and storage of historic furniture and artifacts.
