Abstract

This invited article asks past recipients of the CEC Research Award to provide commentary on their scholarship and research. I have organized my comments herein around three themes: (1) the enabling effects of a supportive context for my research and scholarship, (2) the lessons I've learned from my career successes and failures, and (3) some brief comments on the value of the applied research process. It is hoped this information will be of benefit to others as they pursue their own careers
