Effect of pulmonary disease and cardiac defects on cardiopulmonary function & performance

We are currently investigating the effects of COPD on the regulation of intrapulmonary arteriovenous anastomoses. This work is being done in collaboration with Bob Carolan, M.D. with Oregon Lung Specialists, LLC. Also, collaborations with Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute and Sam Lau, MD of the Heart Associates of Oregon will allow for our team to examine the effects of surgical interventions on a variety of cardiac and lung diseases on long-term cardiopulmonary function, gas exchange efficiency and exercise performance indices.

Funding for this work is provided by a Research Grant from The American Lung Association of Oregon and The American Thoracic Society.
