There are four primary sources for sample problems for Midterm 1:
There are four practice WeBWorK sets. None will be counted in the grade. However, the chain rule will appear on Midterm 1, and is not in any of the regular WeBWorK sets except for a few problems in "Week4Modified_Part1" (note: a small extra WeBWorK set, really part of the one due the next week). Implicit differentiation may appear on Midterm 1, and is not in any of the regular WeBWorK sets. The sets "DerivativePractice_ChainRule1" (chain rule problems) and "DerivativePractice_Implicit1" (implicit differentiation problems) are "due" (and answers become available) Wednesday 18 October at 11:59 pm (the night of the review session). The sets "DerivativePractice_ChainRule2" (chain rule problems) and "DerivativePractice_Implicit2" (implicit differentiation problems) are "due" (and answers become available) Thursday 19 October at 10:00 pm (the evening before Midterm 1).
Of course, you should also know how to do all the Midterm 0 problems. Note, though, that the Midterm 1 problems will be in format much more like the problems in the first list above. Also, they will be graded by me rather than by a grader, and I will look at work and notation much more carefully than the grader does.
Solutions to items in the list above:
The following corrections have been made to the solutions as handed out on paper:
Reminder: Extra credit will be given for finding mistakes. (There may well still be some left.) You need to say what is wrong and how to fix it, you need to be one of the first two people to report the mistake to me, and you need to report it before a corrected version is posted.
