This course is open to all students of Russian (undergraduate of all levels as well as graduate), native speakers of Russian, and anyone interested in Russian culture and theater. It is designed to enhance your pronunciation skills and knowledge of Russian Civilization.

In Spring of 2005, we will prepare a show after several Russian folk tales. Our play will take place in a Russian Dvorets --- the Tsar's palace, where a spoiled and child-like Tsarevich (Prince) when forced, for the sake of the Tsarstvo (State), to marry, insists that every prospective bride tells him a fairy tale he does not know.

Each student will be assigned a part depending on his or her proficiency level. I will work on your pronunciation and provide translation and cultural background for every piece you memorize.

Then we will rehearse the parts you had memorized and perform in May. We will also make/rent costumes and backdrop, think of our own props and music, and collaborate with theater professionals.

Students will be provided with the text of the play and tapes.
