Traveling
to OIMB
By
land (in your own car): Take Highway 101 to Coos Bay
or North Bend. Follow signs to "Ocean Beaches", "Charleston",
or "Sunset Bay". Charleston is approximately eight
miles from Coos Bay. As you enter Charleston, cross the South
Slough bridge and turn right on Boat Basin Drive. OIMB is approximately
one-half mile on the left at 63466 Boat Basin Drive. Driving
from Eugene takes two-and-a-half hours. Driving from Portland
takes about five hours.
By land (Greyhound):
Coos Bay
is serviced via Greyhound. A cab from the bus depot to the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston costs about $10. Call Yellow cab (541) 267-3111 to arrange.
By air (Southwest Oregon Regional Airport): Service to North Bend is provided by United Airlines and SeaPort Airlines (via Portland or San Francisco).
