Research
Interests: I am interested in various aspects of population and community ecology and marine conservation. My masters research focused on the purple sea urchin Strongylocentrotus purpuratus. This species of urchin often occupies pits that it excavates from the hard substrate. I discovered that urchins inside these pits are smaller than urchins living outside pits.
Thesis: "Purple sea urchins (Strongylocentrotus purpuratus) in and out of pits: the effects of microhabitat on population structure, morphology, growth, and mortality"

About
GK12: Children are naturally excited about science, nature, and the world around them. I love having the opportunity to channel this excitement
into learning. GK-12 is a wonderful opportunity to expose children to hands-on science that they otherwise would not experience.
