payroll: Federal Student Aid audit - Summer 2008
To Student Employment Personnel:
The Federal Student Aid Auditors will be visiting the University of Oregon
this summer. They will be reviewing processes for awarding and monitoring
usage of federal student aid and verifying that reconciliation processes
are in place.
In advance of and in preparation for this visit, the Financial Aid Office
is conducting audits of Federal Work-Study student personnel records from
the individual departments on campus. The audits by the Financial Aid
Office will include site visits and interviews with personnel in charge of
student hire paperwork and timesheets.
The Financial Aid Office will select a small group of students' names from
each employer and request hire paperwork, timesheets, job descriptions and
any other available personnel records from the employing department. We
will also verify that the student job descriptions are listed in the
Student Jobs System.
In this early review, we hope to be able to demonstrate the University's
Administrative Capability for managing federal student aid. By meeting
the requirements of Administrative Capability, the University of Oregon
will be able to continue offering the Federal Work-Study program to its
students.
If you have any questions about this audit, or would like to make
arrangements for a specific time period that would best fit with your
department's workload, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks.
