payroll: Minimum Wage Increase

Oregon's minimum wage will increase from $ 7.95/hr to $ 8.40/hr effective 
January 1, 2009.  This is an increase of $ 0.45/hour, based on a 5.37% 
increase in the Consumer Price Index since August, 2007.  This increase 
will affect the hourly wages of many of our student employees and a few of 
our temporary employees at UO.  We will notify you as soon as the Student 
Wage Rate Chart for 2009 has been updated by Human Resources. Also 
published, at the same time, will be the new general guidelines for 
student assistant levels and corresponding hourly wage rates.

Departments will not need to take any action for the January payroll for 
employees who are currently paid at the minimum wage.  The hourly rates on 
the job records will by updated centrally by HR and the Payroll Office.
