honor and privilege, KP has invited former Philippine
Congresswoman and two-term Senator Anna Dominique "Nikki"
Coseteng to speak at the University. The reception will
take place Thursday, October 10 at the UO Erb Memorial Union (EMU)
Ballroom. The program includes a catered buffet dinner, welcome
and introduction, address from Senator Coseteng, Q&A session,
a raffle draw, and a book signing period following.
-Senator
Coseteng is on a promotional tour in North America for the book
entitled "Sinaunang Habi"
(Philippine Ancestral Weave), which is on the subject matter of
preserving an endangered Philippine cultural practice of the indigenous
people.
-Anticipated
special guests include Governor John Kitzhaber, University
President Dave Frohnmayer, Eugene Mayor Jim Torrey, Springfield
Mayor Sid Leiken, Eugene/Springfield City Councilors, Philippine
organizations from around Oregon and Southern Washington, and
many others.
-Senator Coseteng's visit to the University will also address
political, social, economic and cultural issues that have
been and continue to effect the Philippine people today.
