John,
the gentleman in the red and white polo shirt, is the volunteer
assistant supervisor at the Eugene Mission homeless shelter.
He is a resident of the shelter and is now a recovering alcoholic.
John gave the KP team a tour of the mission. This tour opened
our eyes to a heartfelt reality: we shouldn't take for
granted what we have because there are hundreds more less
fortunate. Upon exiting the mission, we were greeted with
the gloomy faces of children and their mothers standing in
line for dinner. As of this very moment, between 350 to
400 families are residents of the Eugene Mission. It
is never too late to help. Donations and volunteer work are
always appreciated.
For more information, please call the Eugene Mission at 344-3251
or visit their location at 1542 W Ist. |
