PROFESIONAL EXPERIENCE: HUMAN RIGHTS WORK

  • National Reparation and Reconciliation Corporation of the Ministry of the Interior National Government of Chile. IX and X Regions, Chile, Researcher. Investigated the location of the "final destination" of disappeared detainees in two regions for National Human Rights Commission. Included confidentially interviewing perpetrators, judges and others with information about victims. (1996)
  • Solidarity Bureau: Human Rights Department-Bishopry of Valdivia, Chile. Executive Secretary: Director of church project provides humanitarian and legal assistance and social services to victims of human rights violations including detainees, exiles and victims of torture and their families.
  • Head of Historical Unit: Investigator of the "final destination" of disappeared detainees in charge of keeping general archives of record of human rights violations in the Valdivia region. Elaborated specific methodology for finding disappeared detainees. (1984-1995)
  • Multi-agency forensic investigation teams. VIII, IX and X Regions, Chile. Court-appointed Independent Expert. Participated in multi-disciplinary investigative teams searching for human remains to identify victims on judicial cases. (1990-1996)
  • Amnesty International, Chile. Local Board of Directors Member. (1990)
  • SERPAJ (Servicio Paz y Justicia / Peace and Justice Service) Valdivia, Chile. Education Program Coordinator. Promoted program's goals of non-violent conflict resolution through events, conferences, and actions. (1979-1984)
