Recycling saves energy, thus reducing acid rain, global warming and air pollution.
Recycling paper uses 60 percent less energy than manufacturing paper from virgin timber.
Recycling a glass jar saves enough energy to light bulb for four hours.
Recycling conserves valuable natural resources.
Recycling metals minimizes the need for mining new minerals and decreases damage to wilderness.

Five Important Reasons Why Americans Should Recycle
Saves Natural Resources
By making products from recycled materials instead of virgin materials, we conserve land and reduce the need to drill for oil and dig for minerals.
Saves Energy
It usually takes less energy to make recycled products; recycled aluminum, for example, takes 95% less energy than new aluminum from bauxite ore.
Saves Clean Air and Water
In most cases, making products from recycled materials creates less air pollution and water pollution than making products from virgin materials.
Saves landfill space
When the materials that you recycle go into new products, they don't go into landfills or incinerators, so landfill space is conserved.
Saves Money and Creates Jobs
The recycling process creates far more jobs
than landfills or incinerators, and recycling can frequently be the least
expensive waste management method for cities and towns.
PLASTIC TRASH:
-Did you know that only 2% of non-container plastic is recycled in Oregon?
"Containers" are things like milk jugs, detergent or pop bottles and yogurt
tubs; the items you can recycle curbside.
-Non-container plastics are just about everything else; bags, toys, hospital
supplies, packaging, household goods, office supplies, etc...:the vast array
of plastic goods that are part of our every day lives. These are not recyclable
-When you shop, consider the recyclability/reparability of items. Choose items
that come with minimal or fully recyclable packaging and try to avoid buying
these non-recyclable plastics.
-Though the plastics industry says that more plastics are getting recycled,
the reality is that more and more non-recyclable plastics are being produced
actually lessening the recovery percentage.
- Thanx for choosing wisely when you shop!
