Chapter 25 on our Galaxy.

For this week and the exam, we are doing 25-1,2,3 and the first part of 25-4. To review this, please answer questions 2,3,7 and 9. Here is one more:

S1) Describe, with the aid of a drawing, the main parts of a spiral galaxy like the Milky Way. Where is gas and dust found? Where are globular clusters found? What kind of orbits do halo stars and globular clusters have? What kind of orbits do disk stars have?

Chapter 20 on Star Birth.

For this week and the exam, we are learning about the interstellar medium and the basics about how new stars are born. You can find this in sections 1,2,4, and 5. To review this, please answer questions 20-1,2,6 and 9. Here is one more:

S2) In what kinds of gas clouds do you find ionized atoms? In what kinds of gas clouds do you find atoms that are not ionized? In what kinds of gas clouds do you find molecules. Which of these is hottest, which is coolest?
