The Northwest Terascale projects is a series of small informal workshops being jointly hosted by the particle theory and experimental groups at the Universities of Washington and Oregon. These are intended to be working meetings for interested experts, with a minimal number of formal talks, and most of the time spent on discussion and collaborative work towards improving the prospects for physics discoveries at the LHC.
The first workshop in this series was held at the University of Washington in January, 2009 on the subject of Determining the Properties of the Higgs at the LHC.
In this meeting, participants will study the structure of parton shower event generators and possible improvements in these generators in connection with issues of importance to the LHC experiments.
The senior participants are Christian Bauer (LBL), Rick Field (Florida), Peter Loch (Arizona), Steve Mrenna (Fermilab), Michael Peskin (SLAC), Peter Skands (Fermilab), and Nikos Varelas (Illinois at Chicago) plus Dave Soper from the University of Oregon and Steve Ellis from the University of Washington.
