Versions

In the software business, 'Release 1.0' is the first commercial version of a new product, following test versions usually called 0.5, 0.8, 0.9, 0.91, 0.92. It's fresh and new, the realization of the hopes and dreams of its developers. It embodies new ideas and it is supposed to be perfect.

Usually the vendor comes out with Release 1.1 a few months later, fixing unexpected bugs and tidying up loose ends.
