

Chris Luebkeman presently resides in the Boston area with his wife Laurel. He joined the faculty of the School of Architecture at MIT in January of 1997. During 1996 they resided in Hong Kong . He has taught architectural design, structures and a number of related subject seminars at the University of Oregon's Department of Architecture between 1993 and his leave in 1996 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently conducting research on extreme structures and virtual design, internet based education and teaching structures undergraduate and graduate courses at MIT. He is the founder of a small collaborative design group, Second Generation Design, which creates both original design work and acts as a consultancy to design professionals. His research activities in Hong Kong were varied and yet focused on the use of the WWW and the potential of multi-media in education. The WWW Site, The Architectonics Studio, has been used as a vehicle to explore the effectiveness of the web in higher education. He worked with the New Media Center on the Third Edition of the site in 1995. Since then he has continued independedn development work on the inclusion of Java Applets and VRML.
