The following is the general format for the case studies that are to be included in this collection. It does not need to follow this format exactly, but all of the topics that are covered should be discussed...... other topics will be added a s comments indicate they are necessary.

It is my intent that these case studies become more detailed over time. I have been developing them for over nine years on hard copy. This is the first time that they can be truely built upon. If you have information that is not included in the study, please do not hesistate to send it to me.... you will become one of the authors too!!!!!

General History

why was this building built? who was the architect, engineer and builder?. This is the place that the anecdotes and stories should be included....

Physical Description

the size in all the x-y-z directions. what are the materials? why were they chosen? what role did economics play in this? what are the member sizes? what is the buidings use(s)?

Description of the Building Process

how was this built? was it prefabricated? why? were special tools used? traditional methods of construction or something innovative? did anything go wrong? how long did it take?

Structural Descripton/Aspects

how does it stand? how are lateral loads resisted? how are vertical loads transfered? are there any long-spans? what are the exact loading assumptions? what is uniqe about this load-bearing structure?

Conclusions

What can you learn from this building? Is everything self-evident? or is the load-bearing structure hidden?

Bibliography

List ALL sources that were used. This will enable other individuals to follow what you have done. This is very important for both academic accuracy AND in case your project inspires someone else to dig deeper....... that is the intent of thi s work!
