Welcome to the Teaching Engagement Program at the University of Oregon.
In 1987, the Center for Academic Learning Services (now the Teaching and Learning Center) established the Teaching Engagement Program in response to grassroots efforts by faculty to get more support for their teaching.
Since then, TEP has hosted annual programs of workshops, seminars, and conversations on teaching; we offer individual consultations on best practices for responding to student work, integrating technology into the classroom, establishing classroom and mentoring dynamics, interpreting students evaluations, writing teaching statements, developing truly innovative assignments, and more.
Our support is always free, confidential, and focused on supporting teachers as they work to improve and find more satisfaction in their teaching.
TEP supports teachers across rank and discipline, building an imaginative, resourceful, and connected campus-wide teaching culture. We create occasions for faculty to develop and refresh their pedagogy in dialogue with one another, and to engage with campus, national, and scholarly conversations about excellence in higher education. TEP promotes research-led teaching that activates students’ commitment to inquiry and brings faculty expertise to life.
