Request a Video View
Watching oneself teach is an excellent way to assess teaching behaviors and classroom interaction. TEP collaborates with the Center for Media and Educational Technologies (CMET) to offer UO instructors an opportunity to arrange for digital filming of their classroom teaching and receive feedback in a private and confidential follow-up consultation with a TEP staff member.
You might request a video view:
- to assess the strengths and weaknesses of your your presentation style.
- to consider how students respond to your questions and discussion prompts.
- to gauge the balance between lecture and interaction in your class.
- to experience the class from a student’s perspective.
Only the first 30 minutes of the class will be filmed, then you’ll view it with a TEP staff member and and keep the DVD. Neither TEP nor CMET archives the videos.
This service is available to all University of Oregon course instructors and is strictly for purposes of feedback on teaching effectiveness.
Instructors and Departments: Our ability to arrange video views for an entire cohort of students is limited. Please contact us at email@example.com at least a term in advance if you’re considering including a required video-view activity in a GTF training or pedagogy course. We look forward to working with you.
To request a video view, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Availability is limited, so please submit your request as early as possible in the term and at least one week prior to the date you prefer to be filmed. Please include the following information with your request:

Time your class begins:
Location of your class:
Brief description of your general teaching approach, the specific class objectives for the day of the filming, and any particular aspects of your teaching you are currently experimenting with or working to change:
If you are a GTF and this is a requirement for your department or a graduate teaching seminar, please also include the name and email of your supervising instructor:
