Whiteness. Power and privilege. Creationism and evolution. We will explore specific strategies for creating optimal learning environments when teaching controversial subjects such as these. Specifically, topics will include syllabus development, preparation for the first day and week, collaborating with students to create a safe learning environment, and dealing with difficult situations that inevitably arise.
