I am an associate professor in volcanology in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oregon.

I'm currently studying magma degassing during volcanic eruptions and how  this degassing affects the dynamics of volcanic eruptions, especially for the more silici ones.

Our research involves the collection and textural and chemical analyses of volcanic samples, the study of water diffusion in volcanic glass, and the numerical modeling of degassing processes and magma ascent in the conduit during explosive eruptions.

I have also studied the formation and propagation of tsunamis triggered by volcanic debris avalanches, using an approach by numerical modeling.

My research necessites the use of different approaches, methods and tools.
