travelnews: Air Travel

Effective January 1, the UO has new contracts with the three travel
agencies: Ambassador Travel, Azumano/Away Travel, and Premier Travel.
The major difference is the ticketing fee. Travel arrangements may be
made as in the past.

Airfare may now be purchased by alternative methods: internet, other
agencies, direct from airline. These purchases will require using a UO
departmental procurement card, purchase order, or personal credit card.

If using the UO procurement card, travel costs MUST be JVed to the
appropriate travel account code.

The memo below includes additional resources.

RE: New Travel Policies and Procedures

As a result of the Business Affairs Office travel team review, new options
for purchasing airfare are available to campus travelers. The travel team
appreciates the suggestions provided by the campus throughout this
process.

Beginning January 1, 2002, departments and travelers may purchase airfare
by:

¨ Other agencies, internet travel services, airlines - Airfare purchasing
from other sources will be allowed using a procurement card, purchase
order, or the individual's credit card (reimbursed after travel
commences). Additional quotes are needed if the total ticketing costs
more than $5,000. Please note the resources listed below.

¨ Contracted travel agencies - We are continuing the services of the three
contract agencies. By using a contract agency, departments can utilize
the "ghost" card allowing direct billing to a department index.
Additional quotes are not needed for costs over $5,000.

Departments may apply their own restrictions to the above options.

We are planning other changes to the travel program and will keep you
informed as they develop.
