travelnews: Northwest Airlines Portland to Tokyo

Northwest Airlines announced Wednesday it will begin daily nonstop service
between Portland, Oregon and Tokyo as of June 10, 2004. The decision is
credited to aggressive efforts on the part of local leaders in business,
government and at the Port of Portland to successfully demonstrate to
Northwest executives that the community would greatly value and strongly
support the service.

From Northwest's Tokyo hub, Portland travelers will be able to make single
connections to China, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan and other countries
in the airline's Asia/Pacific network.

Northwest will start service in June with a DC10-30 aircraft, offering
both World Business and Coach Class. In the fourth quarter of 2004, the
flight is scheduled to transition to Northwest's new long-range Airbus
A330-200 aircraft, equipped with its new lie-flat World Business Class
seat and fully interactive in-flight entertainment system.

In celebration of Northwest's new service, the airline has made special
introductory fares available for purchase. Northwest is
offering a base fare of $319 each way from Portland to Tokyo or Nagoya,
Japan. In addition, introductory fares are available from
Portland to Beijing, Busan, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore or
Taipei for a base fare of $379 each way, Bangkok for $404 each way and
Manila for $494 each way. Introductory fares are also being offered from
other Pacific Northwest cities such as Bend/Redmond, Eugene and Klamath
Falls, Oregon, as well as Spokane, Washington, at slightly higher fares.
Tickets must be purchased no later than January 31, 2004. All travel must
be completed by July 15, 2004. Other restrictions and conditions apply.
Azumano Travel is waiving the service fee on these fares.
