Thread-topic: private vehicle mileage rate

All travel coordinators:

The new personal vehicle mileage rate is 44.5 cents per mile, effective January 1, 2007.

The IRS has recently announced that their standard mileage rate increased from 44.5 cents per mile to 48.5 cents, effective January 1, 2007. OUS then announced the same increase. Yesterday OUS announced they are retracting the increase until further notice.

OUS travel policy mirrors federal rates which are set by the General Services Administration (GSA) for employees of the Federal government. At this point, the GSA hasn't announced a rate for 2007. If and when the GSA announces a new rate for 2007, OUS will follow suit.
