CHINA TIGHTENS VISA POLICY

Chinese visa policy has been tightened recently due to the security concern of upcoming Olympic Games. Go to the following web page for more information. http://www.chinaconsulatesf.org/eng/qianzhen/zgqz/t48484.htm

Multiple Entry Visa is now under tight control and is issued mostly to repeat visitors. Round-trip flight itinerary and hotel reservations are now required. Business visitors are required to provide a “Visa Notification Form” issued by a Chinese authorized unit. Duration of stay allowed now, is most likely to be 30 - 60 days. More restriction has been introduced for non-US passport holders.

The policy is expected to be relaxed after the Olympic Games in August. In the meantime, travelers are cautioned that due to heightened demand for travel to China, delays in obtaining visas may be experienced.
