travelnews: Airline Luggage Fee Updates

MORE LUGGAGE FEES

Seattle-based Alaska Airlines will begin charging $15.00 for traveler's first checked piece of luggage.  The airline will assess a fee of $25.00 for the second checked bag and $50.00 for a third checked bag.  Premium members of Alaska's Mileage Plan frequent flyer program are exempt from the added fees.

Atlanta-based Delta Airlines said this week it will begin charging international travelers $50.00 to check a second piece of luggage.  Delta is the first airline to assess such a fee for international flights.  The new policy takes affect on July 1st.
