FOREIGN STUDY PROGRAMS COMMITTEE

 

ESTABLISHED:   1969.    FSPC Meeting,  May 31, 1996

 

REVISED PROPOSED CHARGE

 

 

POWERS  AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                       

 

(a)  To review periodically the organized foreign study programs associated with the University for the continued granting of UO credit; (b) to make recommendations to the Vice President for Academic Affairs regarding the approval of all new foreign study programs, approval of new policy proposals, and the continuation of existing programs; (c) to submit an annual report of the committee to the faculty senate; and (d) to follow generally the standards enumerated in "Guidelines for Foreign Study Programs in the Oregon State System of Higher Education" (July 24-25, 1967), in matters regarding program reviews, evaluations, and policy considerations.

 

 

MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES:

 

 10 faculty representing the various colleges and schools, to be appointed for staggered two year terms.  One student, appointed for a one year term.  The Director of the Office of International Education and Exchange, ex officio.

 

­CURRENT JURISDICTION

 

New foreign study program proposals from any area of campus must be presented to and approved by this committee.  The committee generally reviews about one-third of the foreign study programs each year to assure quality and viability.

 

 COMMENTS: 

 

The Foreign Study Programs Committee meets approximately once a month during the academic year.  The Office of International Education and Exchange provides the staff for this committee.
